Course Overview

The Telehandler Operations in Civil Constructions course is designed to give the trainee the knowledge and skills to operate an Telehandler safely.

The course is a competency based face-to-face training. Participants will show competency by passing both theory and practical Assessments.  It is a Work Health Safety Requirement for the Participants to be able to read and write Basic English.

Participants will receive a PDF Version of their Statement of Attainment from RTO, Tectra Australia 40889, by Email, when him or her are deemed to be competent. Statements of attainment are documents (like a certificate) that show the units of competency that a student completes as part of a nationally recognised course and a small wallet sized plastic card. 

This unit covers conducting telescopic materials handler operations (Operations of Telehandler Ticket and licence Training) in the construction, civil construction, resources industries. It includes planning and preparing; conducting machine pre-operational checks; operating the telescopic materials handler; attaching, securing, lifting, carrying and placing materials; selecting, removing and fitting attachments; relocating the telescopic materials handler; carrying out machine operator maintenance; and cleaning up. 


1. Plan and prepare, theory training 

2. Conduct machine pre-operational checks

3. Operate telescopic materials handler (Operations of Telehandler)

4. Attach, secure, lift, carry and place materials.

5. Select, remove and fit attachments.

6. Relocate the telescopic materials handler.

7. Carry out machine operator maintenance.

8. Clean up.

9.Theory Assessment and Operational Assessment.
