Course Duration & Dates
The course is designed for beginners or people with experience.
The Duration of the training depends on the Trainee’s experience and the number of participants in the class. If the Trainee needs more practical sessions, we can schedule additional sessions until they feel confident and the trainer deems the trainee competent.
Option: 1 Recognition of Prior Learning, 4 hrs – 1 day, depending on your past experience.
Option: 2 Training can be conducted at your workplace or at our training venue.
Option: 3 Learn at your own pace.
1st day: Theory and Practical Training. If you need more practical experience, we may have to bring you back for a second day, or we can issue you with a logbook, which you can then return to your workplace and operate under supervision while you are getting ready for your assessment.

Course Overview
The course is designed to give the person knowledge and skills to safely operate a Bobcat (Skid Steer). The course is a competency based face-to- face training.
Participants who show competency by passing both theory and practical assessment. It’s a Work Health Safety Requirement for the Participants to be able to read and write Basic English. We schedule courses from Monday to Friday. Group bookings Saturday and Sunday by appointment only. Our trainers are fully Nationally Accredited.
Students can expect to learn the skills required to safely operate Skid steer (Bobcat).
On completion of the training you will receive a PDF Version of their Statement of Attainment from RTO, Tectra Australia 40889, by email, when him or her are deemed to be competent. Statements of attainment are documents (like a certificate) that show the units of competency that a student completes as part of a nationally recognised course. and a small wallet size plastic card Nationally Recognised.
Course Outline
- Plan work – Identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures;
- Conduct routine checks – Check logbook, structural integrity, safety and communication equipment;
- Apply appropriate hazard prevention/control measures;
- Planning and Preparing
- Pre operational checks
- Familiarising yourself with the machine
- Operating the Bobcat (Skid Steer).Use relevant plant movements, use best mobile practice and respond to unplanned/unsafe situations, use of attachements;
- Load, carry and place materials
- Select, remove and fit attachments
- Carry out machine operator maintenance
- Conduct housekeeping activities
- Theory training
- Theory Assessment
- Operational Assessment
- Shut down – Correctly Stow away Skid steer and safety equipment, conduct routine post-operational checks, clean up workplace

- Appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Safety shoes or boots
- Hi-vis shirt and
- A broad brimmed sun hat and water bottle is recommended
- We supply tea and coffee milk (Fridge) Cafe driving distance from venue
